79 Series Dual Cab Toyota Landcruiser

Our 2013 79 Series Dual Cab Toyota Landcruiser is very much part of the My Aussie Travel Guide family, and as with most 4WDs, he’s a work in progress. We travelled for a while before deciding to make any serious changes – while he was set up as a tourer, the original canopy layout didn’t really work for us. So in 2016, we gutted the canopy and pretty well started again, and then decided to upgrade the cabin in 2017. We’re not sure what this year will bring, but there’s always a tweak here and there to make!

Which Vehicle to Purchase?

Hi to everyone that knows us from our various journeys throughout Australia and to new friends made overseas as well. Some of you may even know us from many forums, but as some of you are new to us and that of My Aussie Travel Guide, we thought we would take this time...

Our continuing new vehicle dilemma

Our continuing new vehicle dilemma

When finishing our last blog, we were unfortunately heading back to the drawing board (whiteboard) as nothing in the secondhand market was coming our way. Well as luck would have it one Friday night, we received an alert for a new Car Sales ad, and looking at it as we...

A new vehicle…finally!

A new vehicle…finally!

Time for an update... Our last post had us flying across the country to look at a potential vehicle we were hoping to purchase.  Armed with a 3 page checklist, details of the vehicle and a bank cheque, we arrived in Brisbane and waited at the airport for a call to say...

Our Vehicle – Suspension

Our Vehicle – Suspension

Now like most fourbys that get off the black top and hit the dirt, this vehicle is no different to any other. Yes, it’s had some work done to improve the ride when out and about, but nothing too radical though; the KISS approach has been adopted for now. The vehicle...

Our Vehicle – Additional Fuel Capacity

Our Vehicle – Additional Fuel Capacity

By now, you'll realise that this vehicle is being put together to be a Tourer; and to be able to go the distances we want, we had to increase its range and add an additional fuel tank.  We put in a fair bit of research as to what was going to work the best for us...

A bit about the 79 Series

A bit about the 79 Series

When it came to choosing a touring vehicle, we undertook extensive research and narrowed it down to a few vehicle types. But in the end, the Dual Cab 79 Series Toyota Landcruiser stood out over all others. Having now had the vehicle for a little over 2 years, we’ve...

79 Series Canopy Storage

When it came to arranging a makeover for the 79 Series canopy, it wasn't something we did lightly. We'd already had the vehicle for nearly two years, so we had plenty of time testing out what worked and what didn't before making any changes. Our original canopy set up...
